Travis was born to Ron and Deb Goodman in the small Colorado town of Alamosa. After his parents divorced at the age of 5 he to Colorado Springs with his mother and his two younger siblings, Ronnye and Todd. He got his first taste of the stage at a young age in his church's youth production, a musical recounting the travels of Timothy, Silas and Paul, but it wasn't until high school that he really found a love for it. At the constant coaxing of a friend, Travis auditioned for the school musical his freshman year. He was cast as Mr. Bundles in "Annie". Travis was part of every musical his high school produced after that playing Kenickie in "Grease", Nathan Detroit in "Guys and Dolls" and Prince Charming in "Cinderella". He also played in two of the schools straight plays, "You Can't Take it With You" and "The Man Who Came to Dinner". During high school Travis stayed extremely active. He played football, ran track, was part of student government and was elected his senior year as Student Body President. After high school Travis went directly on to college. He applied to and was accepted by the few state schools he applied to, but eventually decided to return to his hometown of Alamosa and attend Adams State College. While he had always done well in school growing up, he'd always had a distaste for it. By the middle of his sophomore year he'd grown weary of it and was ready to return home. A phone call with his mom set his life on course for the first time.
